Bomb cuts gas supplies to major Pakistan cities
Several Pakistan cities in the eastern Punjab province, including Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur, were without gas supplies on Thursday when a bomb ruptured a supply pipeline. No one claimed responsibility but the authorities suspect local tribesmen who have attacked gas fields and security forces in a campaign for increased royalty payments from natural resources that are extracted from their territories. Bill introduced to separate FEMA from DHS
CNSNews.com has reported that a Republican congressman has introduced a measure that calls for the separation of the Federal Emergency Management Agency from the Department of Homeland Security. Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) said the bill is "not solely" in response to the Hurricane Katrina fallout. "It is the result of the increasing evidence that FEMA should not be hindered by a top-heavy bureaucracy when needed to act swiftly to save lives," he said. Read the story

BNET announces new ‘critical service provider’ enhancement program for the Corporate Emergency Access System
The Business Network of Emergency Resources (BNet) has announced an important enhancement program to its Corporate Emergency Access System that will allow companies to authorize ‘CEAS access credentials’ for external, contracted service providers that perform a critical business function within their organization. www.ceas.com
