Business Continuity and Information Security Analyst

The role:

Reporting directly to the Business Continuity (BC) and Information Security (IS) Manager.  The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of information security and business continuity across the Firm.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the updating, monitoring, maintenance and continual improvement of the Information Security (IS) Management System (ISMS) including IS policies, ISO audits and management reviews
  • Drafting reports and management information for final sign off by IS/BS Manager
  • Assist with the co-ordination and completion of the IS annual internal audit
  • Assist in the review and update of the Business Continuity Plan
  • Assist with Business Impact Analysis and the updating of the Risk Register
  • Assist with the writing, developing and co-ordination of BC exercises
  • Respond to prospective client tender questions and client due diligence checks for IS and BC
  • Assist in the preparation of material for client onsite assessments
  • Maintain IS and BC documentation and intranet sites
  • Assist with the development and updating of the IS and BC training for all staff and carry out IS and BC inductions for new starts
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal IS/BC Champions
  • Act as a key point of contact for staff for day to day queries relating to IS and BC
  • Monitor developing potential business interruption situations
  • Work with the IS/BC Manager to respond to business interruption situations


  • Degree qualified or equivalent (desirable)
  • Preferable partly qualified in risk management eg IRM Certificate or Diploma or Business Continuity Institute qualifications
  • Some previous experience of working in business continuity and information security
  • Preferable knowledge of ISO 27001 (Information Security and ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management)

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of designing training/learning materials
  • Experience in delivering training and internal workshops
  • Strong internal networking skills with the ability to quickly gain credibility
  • Ability to positively influence at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication

Personal characteristics:

  • An inquisitive mind with a strong interest in operational risk in general, cyber, IT, business interruption, etc
  • Pro-active as well as re-active mindset
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take on responsibility
