Business Continuity Planner

General Summary

The mission of the Business Continuity (BC) Planner is to design and implement a limited scope business continuity program at our corporate headquarters working with Emergency Preparedness and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Program Manager for Emergency Preparedness, the BC Planner will develop business continuity plans and processes focused on certain departments that support operations across our healthcare system including revenue cycle operations, supply chain management, and payroll. Additionally, the planner will review and make recommendations for the use of business continuity planning software and will work with the Emergency Preparedness Program to identify business continuity tools and processes that could be replicated by staff at our institutions. The BC Planner may be asked to participate in emergency response events, if any, including on evenings and weekends. While technology dependencies will be relevant to business continuity planning discussions, this is not a technology-focused/IT disaster recovery position. Opportunities to continue work beyond initial scope, estimated at 6-7 months’ duration, will be considered based on available funding.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

General

1. Develop operational recommendations for the governance and sustainability of Business Continuity processes and practices at the corporate level with input from Emergency Preparedness and other stakeholders
2. Serve as project manager for completion of all business continuity deliverables and tasks

Business Impact Analysis (BIA)

3. Develop a BIA process and tool for use with identified departments in accordance with the critical functions of our business
4. Guide three identified departments on completion of the BIA
5. If available, input BIA results into chosen BC software program

Business Continuity Plans

6. Develop department-level BC plan template and process
7. Collaborate with three identified departments on completion of the BC plan including identification of key resource dependences, recovery time objectives, recovery point objectives, and recovery strategies
8. If available, input BC plans into chosen BC software

Software Review

9. Investigate and recommend BC software to aid in BC program/plan maintenance and response; Investigation will include review of existing software programs with BC capabilities already within the Partners environment as well as software programs not currently utilized by Partners
10. If an existing software program is selected, lead initial configuration and data input for three identified departments

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ direct business continuity planning experience, ideally will possess familiarity with healthcare business operations specifically healthcare revenue cycle operations
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, healthcare administration, project management, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of business continuity management, governance, best practices, and protocols
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, especially related to facilitation, documentation, and reporting
  • Ability to work with a great degree of autonomy
