Survey looks at business continuity in medium sized UK companies

Get free weekly news by e-mailActivity, an independent security specialist, has unveiled research conducted on its behalf by Vanson Bourne which looked at business continuity within the UK’s medium sized companies.

The survey of 200 companies with between 250 and 999 employees found that there was a high business continuity take-up, with 81 percent of respondents stating that a business continuity plan of some sort existed. However, 50 percent of these had only been partially tested and 18 percent of companies had not tested any aspect of their plans.

As a result only 15 percent of organisations surveyed were confident that their business continuity plans would be effective.

Business continuity is not the sole responsibility of the IT department in many medium sized companies: 25 percent of respondents said that general business management was involved in plan development and 40 percent said it had some involvement.
