Dialogue Group Holdings has announced that, through its subsidiary ContinuitySA, it has acquired the entire issued share capital of the South African operation of SunGard Availability Services (South Africa) (Propriety) Ltd. The acquisition will cost Dialogue R18.5m.
The above company will cease trading and its operations will be integrated with those of ContinuitySA. The new combined company will offer recovery centres in Gauteng, the Western Cape and Botswana.
SunGard will continue to own and run several other thriving businesses in South Africa, which focus on the software market.
Dialogue CEO Jason Drew said that by combining the resources of ContinuitySA, already South Africa’s leading business continuity and disaster recovery specialist, with those of SunGard SA, also a major participant in this market, the group has become a key player in an area which has greatly increased in importance for corporate South Africa.
“The operations of the two companies are not only remarkably similar but also generally complementary, and the enlarged business will be able to offer clients an extended range of services,” Drew said.
Keith Tilley, EVP Europe and MD, SunGard Availability Services commented: "It was a logical sale for us. Our strategic growth is concentrating on other geographies and we felt that ContunuitySA, with whom we have worked on joint initiatives in this market before, would be best placed to serve the interests of our existing SunGard Availability Services customers in South Africa"
