FEMA has announced the release of the interim ‘Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101: Producing Emergency Plans: A Guide for All-Hazard Operations Planning for State, Territorial, Local, and Tribal Governments’.
FEMA says that Interim CPG 101 is to be the foundation for both public and private sector emergency planning in the United States. It will replace State and Local Guide (SLG) 101.
The guide was developed by a team of tribal, state and local officials from around the United States and is the first in a series of publications being developed through the FEMA National Preparedness Directorate's CPG Initiative.
The interim release of CPG-101 focuses on the response and recovery planning process. The final release of CPG-101, scheduled for December 2008, will include all mission areas: prevention, protection, response and recovery. Over the next several months, a series of forums will be held to discuss the interim document and an open comment period will be conducted prior to finalizing it.
Future CPGs will discuss planning considerations for a variety of emergency functions, hazards and special preparedness programs. Topics will include: response catastrophic logistics planning, evacuation planning, debris management, emergency public information, and natural hazards.
The next guide scheduled for release is ‘CPG 301 - Emergency Planning Guide for Special Needs Populations’.
