Saudi Arabia terrorism warnings stepped up

Both the US State Department and the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office have warned about specific terrorist threats against Western interests in Saudi Arabia.

The State Department is warning US citizens to defer non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia, stating that the US Government has received indications of terrorist threats aimed at American and Western interests, including the targeting of transportation and civil aviation.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office advised British nationals ‘against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia’ saying that there is ‘information of a threat to British aviation interests in Saudi Arabia’. As a precautionary measure British Airways is currently suspending all flights to and from Riyadh and Jedda.
