Phoenix Chief Executive sells 2 million shares
On 7 August 2007 Nick Robinson, chief executive of Phoenix, sold 2.0 million ordinary shares in the company at 445 pence per share. The total number of shares disposed represents 2.7 percent of the Phoenix's issued share capital. Following the disposal, Nick Robinson's interest in the company is over 4.16 million ordinary shares, representing 5.6 percent of the company's issued share capital. Nick Robinson commented, “I have sold these shares for personal reasons. I remain a significant shareholder in the business and have undertaken to the board not to make any further sales of shares in Phoenix for at least 18 months.”

Tax help for businesses affected by UK foot and mouth outbreak
HM Revenue & Customs has announced that it will defer collection of taxes and duties or agree instalment arrangements where business and individual taxpayers are unable to pay as a result of severe difficulty resulting from the current foot and mouth outbreak. HMRC will also:
* Suspend debt collection proceedings
* Defer compliance checks and investigations
* Provide help and advice in dealing with other practical tax matters arising from the outbreak
* Where appropriate consider using the powers available to give up interest and surcharges on tax paid which is paid late due to the outbreak.
A helpline has been set up to support those affected by foot and mouth disease: call 0845 366 1207, seven days a week from 8.00am to 8.00pm.

RMS Estimates cost of UK floods to reach £3.25 billion
The June and July floods that gripped parts of the UK could cost insurers between £2.25 billion and £3.25 billion in total, according to latest estimates by Risk Management Solutions. Insured losses from the July flood are likely to be between £1.0 billion and £1.5 billion, with the estimated cost of the 25 June flood ranging from £1.25 billion to £1.75 billion. These figures could be higher than many insurers expected, based on their initial estimates of the risk.
