EU grants aid worth €162 million for UK regions struck by floods in 2007 The European Commission has made available aid totalling €162.4 million from the European Union Solidarity Fund to help recovery from the floods that hit regions in England, Northern Ireland and Wales during the summer of 2007. UK government to invest in flood information website Details of UK government plans to assist individuals and businesses to better protect their property from the impacts of flooding have been outlined by the Environment Secretary. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) will commit £125,000 to the development of an interactive website and phone line service in conjunction with the Environment Agency. This will provide individuals and businesses with the advice and information they need to protect their homes and premises from flooding.
