Business Continuity and Resilience Manager

The role holder will lead on co-ordination and management of Business Continuity and Emergency Response Planning to a standard that aligns to ISO 22301, including development, implementation and continual review of Business Continuity Policy and plans that support the Emergency Incident Management and Response process. The role holder will advise and support colleagues on development of business continuity plans in response to new and emerging risks and be instrumental in developing and delivering business resilience across the University.

Job role

  • Development of the existing framework into a robust and effective Business Continuity Management System.
  • Development, implementation and regular review of the Business Continuity Management strategy and policy.
  • Lead on communication regarding Business Continuity and Emergency Incident Management to all key stakeholders.
  • Development and maintenance of a business continuity/ crisis management plan repository/management system.
  • Completion of Business Impact Analysis with all areas across the University to understand the critical end to end processes across the University.
  • Development and delivery of training to all Business Continuity plan owners and appointed representatives.
  • Provision of expert advice and guidance to business continuity plan owners across all Faculties and Divisions.
  • Develop and deliver a University wide programme of regular testing and validation of business continuity and crisis management plans with the involvement of external Local Resilience Forum partners and key stakeholders/suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain a network of internal champions to support the effective development of service level Business Impact Analysis and Business Continuity Plans
  • Drive continuous resilience improvement through a range of mechanisms including internal audit, peer review and post incident debriefing. Ensuring that gaps identified and lessons learnt are tracked through to implementation.
  • Integrate business continuity with other lines of defence, working closely with other internal professionals (e.g. Information Security, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Staff/Student Wellbeing) to ensure optimum information flows to manage live risks and to ensure effective and well joined up risk mitigation.
  • Build effective working relationships with staff and key stakeholders across the University to ensure robust business continuity and resilience systems and processes are developed and maintained.
  • Attend emergency incidents as required and assist in the management of these where required
