Every year we see new forms of crisis threatening companies, governments, and organizations. At least on the face of it they seem to be new but often the crises have common causes which we have seen before and predictable escalation factors.
The publicity that surrounds them creates opportunities for risk managers, continuity professionals and internal auditors to reflect on how their organizations are exposed and how effective their existing plans, arrangements and capabilities would be if faced with a similar challenge. Talking about other organizations’ problems gives a rare opportunity to share with key personnel the issues, raise awareness, discuss solutions and help embed the continuity and crisis message.
