SEBI issues update to business continuity and disaster recovery guidelines

In a circular published on 26th March 2019, The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) released a new version of its business continuity and disaster recovery guidelines for market infrastructure institutions.

SEBI first issued a prescribed business continuity and disaster recovery framework for stock exchanges and depositories in 2012 and the new guidelines develop and expand these.

SEBI explained that the new guidelines were developed because of advances in ‘technology and improved automation of processes in terms of transitioning time, wherein the operations can be moved from the Primary Data Centre (PDC) to the DRS’.
