On the evening of Wednesday 1st November 2017, The Rt Hon The Lord Cullen of Whitekirk KT officially opened safety and security consultancy firm Restrata’s new Incident Management Centre (IMC) at its new premises in Provender House, Waterloo Quay Aberdeen.
Lord Cullen, who led the inquiry into the Piper Alpha disaster on 6 July 1988, in which a gas explosion killed 167 of the 229 people on board the oil platform in the Scottish North Sea in only 22 minutes, told guests:
“There are dire consequences to poor preparation, substandard communication and a failure to act before things get out of hand.”
“I’d like to congratulate Restrata for applying their experience and expertise to achieve such a fantastic, state-of-the-art incident management facility, and I wish them continued success in their endeavours.”
A range of clients across high risk industries rely on the 24/7/365 Incident Management Centre to help establish the necessary emergency response and crisis management arrangements to allow for the effective management of any incident.
The new and improved facility covers 3800 sq. ft. and sees a new Observation Room added to improve the delivery of exercising and major simulated events. A new phone system will allow for recorded calls for a more auditable service, and cameras and microphones in the Incident Management Room will allow services to be provided for client duty managers operating remotely, effectively equipping the facility to support clients around the globe, not just those based in the region.
Speaking of the move, VP of Workforce Development and Managed Services, Will Follett explained: “The move is in line with our continued growth and staff acquisition, and a desire to improve on our first-class facilities and provide support to clients around the globe.”
Headquartered in the UAE, with additional offices and representatives throughout the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, Restrata provides a range of services including physical security consulting, situational awareness and telematics, HSE consulting, crisis and continuity management, workforce development and managed services.
