Sungard AS has announced it now offers an upgraded, fully managed Cloud Recovery solution on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In addition, the company announced it achieved Advanced Consulting Partner status in the AWS Partner Network (APN).

Sungard AS can now offer SLA-backed recovery for customers on AWS or on premises, delivering the level of resiliency required for business-critical applications. Customers can expect to achieve sub one-hour recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for their x86 workloads.

"For more than 35 years, Sungard AS has delivered industry-leading recovery and production services that we've adapted and enhanced to serve a world that has evolved to embrace the cloud," said Joseph George, vice president, product management, Global Recovery Services at Sungard AS. "With this release, we are taking our industry-leading cloud recovery capabilities and making them available on AWS. This provides customers with the flexibility of recovering to Sungard AS recovery cloud targets, to and between AWS regions, or both Sungard AS recovery cloud and AWS targets for truly hybrid recovery."

Sungard AS Cloud Recovery replicates data on Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS), and ensures that AWS instances can be spun up using automated orchestration at the time of test or disaster for minimal downtime or data loss. The company also manages the failover process during testing or disaster without impacting production operations. Sungard AS will provide onboarding, implementation and ongoing monitoring and management of the service ensuring that customers can take advantage of the AWS hyperscale cloud model for their business-critical recovery needs. This enables customers to focus on their production priorities and leverage Sungard AS recovery expertise and investment in AWS-centric replication and orchestrated recovery technology, tools and resources.
