IAEM-USA announces the winner of its Partners in Preparedness Award

IAEM-USA has announced the winner of the IAEM-USA 2018 Partners in Preparedness Award, which will be presented at the IAEM 66th Annual Conference & EMEX, October 19-24, 2018, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The winner of the 2018 IAEM-USA Partners in Preparedness Award is the Single Automated Business Exchange for Reporting (SABER), a nonprofit organization created by the private sector to streamline information sharing with authorized government agencies and other entities for improved emergency management. SABER provides technology that helps businesses transform individual resource/status information into national data standard formats in order to simplify and accelerate distribution. Companies save time and money by uploading information to a single website rather than answering inquiries from a host of federal, state and local agencies. Communities benefit because government agencies get easier access to information they need to expedite response and recovery operations.

FEMA’s National Business Emergency Operations Center, State Business Emergency Operations Centers, and local governments receive business status information through SABER in real emergencies and exercises. For all exercises, SABER business members with a national footprint provide simulated closure status for local communities. SABER volunteers monitor technology during an actual event and, for exercises, the SABER SimCenter is staffed to simulate business closures to help governments practice resource allocation. Other communities then learn about the results through After Action Reports and SABER webinars on lessons learned that are recorded for viewing on the SABER/XchangeCore YouTube Channel.

The IAEM Partners in Preparedness Award recognizes programs or processes that demonstrate innovative, multi-participant involvement between local governments and governmental entities and private sector businesses, non-governmental organizations and non-profits, or individuals which have resulted in effective and efficient incident management, emergency management or homeland security processes.
